Police officers based at Samburu Police Station in Kwale County have recently arrested a man suspected of trafficking narcotics along the Mombasa–Nairobi highway.
In a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the arrest followed a tip-off from members of the public, prompting officers to mount a swift operation near the DEVKI Steel Plant.
Within minutes, a Mazda CX-5, registration KDR 284H, was intercepted. Upon being flagged down, the occupants attempted to flee in different directions.

According to DCI, their escape was short-lived as Christopher Hannington Jobita was quickly subdued by officers before he could make a run for it.
A search of the vehicle’s boot confirmed the officers’ suspicions that sacks of bhang neatly packed and ready for transportation were discovered.
The suspect identified as Jobita, was immediately escorted to Samburu Police Station, where he is being processed ahead of his arraignment.
The impounded SUV and the seized narcotics have been detained as exhibits, while a manhunt for his accomplice who escaped the scene is currently underway.
Authorities have since commended members of the public for their vigilance, reiterating their commitment to intensifying anti-narcotics operations along key transport corridors across the Coast region.
