Five quarry workers have been reportedly shot dead in Mandera East.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, where armed assailants ambushed non-local workers at a quarry site.
According to the village administrator, Mohamed Abdiaziz Roble, the security personnel who were patrolling the area at the time of the incident responded swiftly but were unable to reach the gang on time.
Witnesses revealed that the assailants had planned the ambush as they placed rocks on the road to ambush a vehicle occupied by quarry workers.

Several other workers at the quarry sustained injuries from the attack and were rushed to Mandera Referral Hospital for treatment.
So far, there has been a growing threat of insecurity in the region, particularly among border countries.

Following the incident, the public has now been urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity in the area.
