The authorities have obtained a custodial order in ongoing investigations into alleged hate speech and ethnic incitement.
In a statement on Monday, April 27, 2026, the Directorate of Criminal Investiagations (DCI) revealed that the suspect identified as Bare Sahara Ahmed appeared before the Kahawa Law Courts, Nairobi.
According to the statement by the DCI, the suspect is currently being detained at Kilimani Police Station for a period of 10 days, to allow further investigations into the matter.
“The respondent, Bare Sahara Ahmed, is currently detained at Kilimani Police Station for a period of 10 days to allow investigators to complete inquiries into the matter. The court has further authorised forensic analysis of relevant digital evidence, including call data records and financial transactions, to support the investigation”, part of the statement read.

The authority has further urged members of the public to exercise responsibility in their communications and refrain from engaging in conduct that may incite division or hatred.
“This action underscores our commitment to upholding the rule of law and addressing offences that threaten national cohesion and peaceful coexistence”, the statement added.
