Suspect Connected to the Killing of a 3-Year-Old in Nakuru Arrested

Police Officers IN Nakuru have arrested 17-year-old Lizz Njeri Mwangi in connection with the murder of a 3-year-old. 

In a statement on June 23, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) noted that Lizz is the prime suspect in the murder of Margaret Wanjiru Kirathe that unfolded in Menengai, Nakuru.

According to DCI, Margaret was found unconscious approximately 50 meters from PCEA Shalom Mchanganyiko Church.

The child was rushed to Kenlands Hospital but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

“Officers received a disturbing report about a young child found unconscious approximately 50 meters from PCEA Shalom Mchanganyiko Church. Unfortunately, despite swift action, the child was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kenlands Hospital,” DCI stated.

DCI also revealed that the suspect reportedly lured little Margaret away from the church, leading her to a secluded place, where she strangled her using a piece of cloth.

The motive behind the murder of the 3-year-old is yet to be established.

Police officers, acting on intelligence, launched an operation that led to the arrest of the suspect at her residence.

Moreover, officers recovered the clothes Lizz wore while committing the offence as captured on CCTV, as well as the piece of cloth used to commit the heinous act.

The suspect is currently in custody pending arraignment in court.
