The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have recently arrested the prime suspect connected to the brutal killing of 19-year-old Faith Kemunto, who went missing while preparing to join Machakos University.

In a statement issued on Saturday, September 6, DCI noted that Kemunto had travelled home from Nairobi in readiness for her admission and meeting her boyfriend.

“Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested the prime suspect in the murder of Faith Kemunto, a young lady who was set to join Machakos University before her disappearance and tragic death in July 2025.According to investigators, Faith had travelled home from Nairobi on July 27, 2025, in preparation for her university admission. Kemunto’s sudden disappearance sparked concern within her family, who reported the matter at Nyamuri Police Station when she failed to return home

Despite efforts by both relatives and local authorities, there was no trace of either Kemunto or Angisa.

DCI eventually traced Angisa to Nairobi, where he had gone into hiding.

Following Angisa’s arrest, authorities later recovered a body believed to be that of Kemunto, buried in a shallow grave along a roadside.

Detectives have since been granted a 21-day custodial order as investigations continue.
