Suspect Arrested, Dozens of Stolen Phones Recovered in Kawangware

Police have arrested a man from Kawangware and recovered dozens of suspected stolen mobile phones following an intelligence-led operation.

In an update on Friday, January 30, the National Police Service said the operation was launched after members of the public provided crucial information to officers. 

Acting on the tip-off, officers from Kariobangi North Police Station carried out an operation along Kamunde Road in the Kanyama area of Kariobangi North Ward.

During the operation, a suspect was arrested after being found in possession of property believed to have been stolen. 

Police recovered 36 assorted smartphones, which are now being held as exhibits as investigations continue.

“Today, officers from Kariobangi North Police Station in Nairobi acted on information from the public and conducted an operation along Kamunde Road in the Kanyama area of Kariobangi North Ward.During the operation, officers arrested a suspect found in possession of property believed to be stolen. The team recovered 36 assorted smartphones,” the statement read.

The National Police Service confirmed that the suspect remains in police custody, while the recovered mobile phones have been secured and will be presented as exhibits in court as investigations continue.
