Super Metro Files Appeal After NTSA Shuts Down All It’s Operations

Super Metro Ltd has filed an appeal with the Transport Licensing Board in Nairobi challenging NTSA’s decision to suspend it.

The matatu Sacco argued that it had heavily invested in aligning its operations with the regulatory requirements.

The Sacco therefore claimed that NTSA’s suspension would harm thousands of livelihoods and lower its operations.

In the appeal, Super Metro asserted that the suspension was based on conjecture and insufficiently investigated facts.

The company also emphasized that the reported infractions involve only a few vehicles and do not warrant condemning the entire fleet.

The Sacco now wants NTSA’s decision declared unreasonable and contrary to principles of justice.

Terming the alleged action as malicious, they call for the immediate revocation of the suspension.

NTSA suspended all the Sacco’s operations claiming that a thorough examination of the company’s operations revealed numerous instances of non-compliance, including vehicle inspection and licensing failures, speed limiter violations, unqualified drivers and labor law violations.

“Additionally, upon identifying issues with speed limiters, we promptly reached out to vendors, who rectified the problem across all affected vehicles. These corrective actions were completed well before the suspension, ensuring full compliance with NTSA standards” NTSA stated.
