Super Metro Announces Suspension of its Operation for 3 Days

Super Metro Sacco has announced a temporary suspension of its services for three days following a directive from the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB).

In a statement released on April 14, the company said they had achieved 90% compliance with the directives issued by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB).

However, they would suspend operations for three days to fully complete the directives by NTSA and TLAB.

“Super Metro Limited wishes to inform the public and our valued customers that we have achieved 90% compliance with the directives issued by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB). We remain committed to fully adhering to all regulatory requirements to ensure the safety and satisfaction of our passengers. Following a hearing with the Transport Licensing Appeals Board today, the Board has directed Super Metro Limited to suspend operations for the next three days to finalize the remaining compliance measures,” the statement read.

The sacco went on to maintain its respect for the decision, adding that it is working to address the remaining compliance issues.

Previously, Super Metro’s operator license had been suspended until Monday, March 24, when TLAB halted the suspension that NTSA issued on Tuesday, March 18.

The order allowed Super Metro to resume operations as a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operator, pending a full hearing of the matter.

NTSA suspended Super Metro until the company fully complies with the Public Service Vehicles Regulations, 2014, and other set conditions.

In a statement on Thursday, March 20, NTSA noted that the decision was necessitated by the need to ensure the company is compliant and has put in place safety measures to protect the lives of its passengers and other road users.
