The match began brightly for Sunderland, who showed intent from the opening whistle.

Their early pressure paid off when they broke the deadlock through a neat finish inside the box.

However, the league leaders responded quickly, levelling before halftime and then turning the game around with a precise strike early in the second half.

Despite falling behind, Sunderland’s energy never dipped. Substitutions injected fresh momentum, and the hosts pushed forward relentlessly.

Their persistence finally told as the clock ticked down, sealing a valuable point that could prove crucial for confidence heading into the next round of fixtures.

The result leaves Sunderland with plenty of positives — not least their fighting spirit and ability to challenge one of the strongest sides in the division.

The home supporters left the Stadium of Light proud of their team’s resilience, as attention now turns to maintaining that same intensity in the games ahead.
