Students’ Threats Force St Michael’s School Closure

St Michael’s Secondary School in Bomet has been closed indefinitely after students threatened to attack teachers over confiscated mobile phones.

Teachers had carried out a search in classrooms and seized several phones, angering the students who then created chaos while demanding their devices back.

To restore order, the school administration decided to close the school on Thursday evening, instructing all students to return home immediately.

In a bid to restore order, the administration of St Michael’s Secondary School in Bomet was forced to close the school on Thursday evening, sending all students home immediately.

With this closure, St Michael’s joins a growing list of schools in the region temporarily shut down due to student unrest.

The incident comes just months after Kaplong Girls High School was closed indefinitely following a student protest over alleged assault by a male teacher.

According to Principal Claire Mitei, the closure was necessary to restore calm and allow authorities to investigate, after students demanded action over repeated cases of inappropriate behavior by the teacher.
