Students Nabbed After Fire Destroys Dormitory at Mageraza Academy

Four students have been arrested in connection with a fire that damaged part of a dormitory at Mageraza Academy in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

The learners were taken into custody on Wednesday, May 13, after detectives linked them to the incident that occurred earlier in the day within the school premises.

Reports indicate that the fire broke out in the morning and destroyed a section of the dormitory, causing panic among students and staff at the institution.

Several students sustained minor injuries while trying to rescue their belongings.

Investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nakuru County have since launched inquiries into the incident, with the four suspects believed to have coordinated the fire now in custody.

The suspects were reportedly identified through CCTV footage that allegedly placed them at the scene during the fire incident.

Following the incident, the school’s board resolved to close Mageraza Academy indefinitely to allow for investigations and repairs.

The decision was also influenced by the extensive damage to the dormitory facilities, which house more than 800 pupils at the institution.
