Stephen Wasira Responds to Karua’s Remarks on Tanzania’s Political Affairs

People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua has been cautioned against interfering with Tanzania’s political issues.

The Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Vice Chairman, Stephen Wasira, on Friday, April 25, 2025, stated that Karua had no right to meddle with issues affecting Tanzania.

Karua has been advocating for the release of Tanzania Chadema Party Opposition leader, Tundu Lissu, and even travelling to Tanzania to observe the hearing of the treason case.

According to the CCM chair, Karua had no right to travel to Tanzania.

“I listened to Martha Karua when she was here, speaking as a party leader, she alleged that CCM is afraid of Chadema, that is why it is seizing their leaders before the general elections. I want to boldly tell her that here in Tanzania, there is no party that CCM can fear”, Wasira said.

He urged Karua to understand the situation of Tanzania before commenting on anything, as she is a foreigner before complaining.

He also dismissed Karua’s allegations that CCM was disrupting peace and breaking the East African Community policy, stating that they were carrying out their issues peacefully.

“Don’t compare yourself with CCM. I’d like to let you know that we have no issues with any party and we cannot meddle in matter of the court” he added.

Karua, on the other hand thanked for responding but stated that the vice chair did not address the violations of the constitution and actions of the police at Kisutu court.
