State Rolls Out Easter Support Package to Ease Cost of Living

Kenyans are set to enjoy a National Easter Benefit Package targeting all citizens countrywide.

According to reports, the announcement was made through a special gazette notice dated March 31, 2026.

The notice outlined a series of cash and non-cash benefits intended to offer some relief to Kenyans during the four-day weekend.

According to the notice, each Kenyan household is set to receive Ksh7,000 credited directly into their mobile money accounts.

“In accordance with Gazette Notice No. 04/1/2026, the National Treasury hereby directs that a monetary allocation of Seven Thousand (Ksh 7,000) per household shall be disbursed to all registered households under the National Easter Benefit Package,” the notice read.

Further reports indicate that the subsidy is designed to cover essential costs, including seasonal needs, ensuring all Kenyan citizens can fully participate in Easter celebrations.

Additionally, the measure is part of a broader effort to promote social welfare for all Kenyan households, even as the docket prepares to roll out the 2026 Finance Bill.

While other Kenyans have reacted with excitement towards the Easter package, others have felt that it might be part of what we call ‘April Fools day’ today being 1st April.
