South Africa Confirm Venue for Harambee Stars Clash

South Africa have confirmed that their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya will be played at Orlando Amstel Arena in Johannesburg on November 13, setting the stage for a notable encounter involving Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy.

The South African Football Association announced the venue on Friday, October 16.

The match will be the first of two meetings between the countries during November’s international window, with the return fixture scheduled for Nairobi on November 17.

The Johannesburg encounter carries personal significance for McCarthy, who will lead Kenya against his country of birth.

He previously enjoyed success with Orlando Pirates, where he became a popular figure after helping the club win the league and cup double in 2012.

South Africa enter the upcoming fixtures after winning their opening two AFCON qualifying matches in September.

Bafana Bafana defeated Guinea 2-1 before recording a 5-0 victory over Eritrea, placing them in a strong position in Group D.

Kenya, meanwhile, will be seeking improved performances as McCarthy continues to build his team.

The November double-header offers Harambee Stars an important opportunity to assess their progress against a side that has made an encouraging start to the qualifying campaign.

The two fixtures are expected to attract considerable attention because of McCarthy’s connection to South African football and the importance of the qualifying points.

Kenya will host the return match four days after the Johannesburg meeting, giving both teams a short turnaround between the encounters
