Simba SC staged a dramatic comeback to secure their place in the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederations Cup, defeating the Egyptian side Al Masry in a thrilling quarterfinal second leg at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Entering the match with a 2-0 deficit from the first leg in Egypt, Simba needed an exceptional performance—and they delivered just that.
Spurred on by a passionate home crowd, the Tanzanian giants began the match with intent, urgency, and confidence. Their aggressive pressing and quick ball movement paid off early in the first half. In the 22nd minute, Elie Mpanzu opened the scoring with a powerful strike from the edge of the box, igniting hope and energy throughout the stadium.
