The ODM Party has intensified disciplinary action against its estranged former Secretary General, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, following fresh changes in Senate committee leadership.
In an update issued on Wednesday, July 29, ODM removed Sifuna from the influential Senate County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) and reassigned him to the Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
The party replaced Sifuna with Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo, while CPAC Chairperson Moses Kajwang’ nominated Senator Joseph Githuku to join the committee.

Meanwhile, Osotsi was removed as chairperson of the Senate County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee and replaced by Taita Taveta Senator Johnes Mwaruma.
Osotsi’s removal followed a vote of no confidence by committee members, who accused him of making unilateral decisions without consulting colleagues.
Members also alleged that he had been postponing committee meetings without informing them and was running the committee without involving other members in key decisions.
However, the Vihiga Senator maintained that his removal was politically motivated, claiming he was being targeted because of his opposition to the broad-based government.
He described the move as a political witch hunt rather than a decision based on his leadership.
The changes came just hours after Sifuna publicly disclosed that he expected to be removed from the Senate CPAC, saying he had already accepted the decision after unsuccessfully trying to convince ODM leaders to reconsider.
He also indicated that he was not concerned about the reassignment, noting that serving in the Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Committee would give him an opportunity to broaden his knowledge in the sector.
The latest developments come only days after Sifuna was removed as the Senate Deputy Minority Whip and replaced by Migori Senator Eddy Oketch.
