Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has issued a public apology to former President Uhuru Kenyatta over recent insults directed at him by some party leaders.
Speaking on Tuesday, December 30, during the burial of former Cabinet Minister Cyrus Jirongo in Kakamega County, Sifuna addressed the growing tensions between ODM leadership and the former Head of State.
The Nairobi Senator expressed regret over the remarks made against Uhuru by sections of the party, noting that some leaders had overlooked the support he previously extended to Raila Odinga during his presidential bids.

Sifuna also thanked the former president on behalf of the party, acknowledging the long-standing friendship between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga and recognising Uhuru’s support during Raila’s presidential bids.
The ODM Secretary General further addressed accusations that he is attempting to align the party with Uhuru, dismissing the claims as misleading.
He defended his stance against leaders he accused of quietly courting ties with President William Ruto and challenged critics to provide evidence of any improper political alliance on his part.
Sifuna’s apology follows recent public attacks on former President Uhuru Kenyatta by senior ODM leaders, including Chairperson Gladys Wanga and Minority Leader Junet Mohamed, who have accused him of attempting to fuel divisions within the party.
The claims emerged as ODM maintains a working relationship with President Ruto’s UDA under the broad-based government arrangement, a partnership that has continued to generate internal tensions within the party.
