Siaya Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) have refuted claims that they turned down President William Ruto’s State House invitation.
Speaking to the press, the MCAs clarified that the meeting with the Head of State was postponed due to the absence of Governor James Orengo.
The team led by the Majority Leader in the County Assembly, Edwin Otieno, revealed that the meeting was initially scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, 2025 but was pushed forward to next week to wait for the governor who is currently abroad.
“Some of our county’s top leadership officials were still away, and we wanted it to be an all-inclusive trip, and that is why we had to wait for the others to come back, and that is why the meeting was postponed”, Otieno said.
The county assembly members also clarified claims of planning to impeach Orengo over his controversial political stance.
“These impeachment rumours I have heard that the MCAs are planning to impeach our governor, what has the governor done wrong to deserve impeachment?”, Madingu said.
