Chaos erupted at Limuru market after a swarm of bees descended around the area.
According to the traders, the day was just like any other not until they were ambushed by the swarm of bees who invaded the market place.
“Everything was normal until we suddenly saw people running and screaming. It turned out the bees had arrived and were stinging everyone. We had to flee the market, but the bees still followed us”, one of the traders stated.
The traders added that due to the incident, customers were forced to stay away from the market, which led to them incurring losses.
Normally, bees sting to defend themselves or their hive when they feel threatened.
Bee stings are painful wounds that bees insert their barbed stinger into the skin, injecting venom.
The venom contains proteins that cause pain, swelling and redness around the sting site.
According to medics, a bee’s sting can trigger a life-threatening allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis which can develop rapidly after the sting.
