Several people are feared dead following an early morning collision between a matatu and a lorry on Sunday, November 23.
The crash occurred near the well-known Machakos Junction, where the matatu is reported to have collided head-on with the lorry, leaving multiple passengers dead at the scene.
Images from the site show a mangled matatu, its front section completely destroyed, with the force of the impact causing it to roll onto its side and scatter luggage including farm produce across the busy roadway.

The lorry, identified as a concrete-mixer truck, also sustained extensive front-end damage. It remains unclear whether its driver survived the crash.
Residents rushed to the scene shortly after the crash, working together to return the overturned matatu to an upright position. Rescue operations were still underway at the time of publication.
Preliminary reports suggest the lorry lost control and swerved into the matatu’s lane, resulting in the fatal head-on collision.
The PSV was travelling from Nairobi toward Machakos when the incident occurred.
