Several passengers are feared to have lost their lives following a grisly road accident along the Embu-Meru Highway on Thursday morning.
According to reports, the accident, which involved a Toyota Sienta car, occurred between Giampampo Stage and Mitheru on the busy highway.
Reports indicate that the driver of the car might lost control before veering off the road and descending the road, leaving a trail of destruction.
The car was travelling from Chuka towards Chogoria, before the vehicle veered off the highway and landed in a ditch, with the impact causing extensive damage to the car.
Images seen by Whisperswire, shows parts of the vehicle, including the engine and wheels, torn off and scattered at the scene, indicating the severity of the crash.
Further reports indicate that the passengers might qhave been part of a group travelling from Ngara in Nairobi to Tigania in Meru to attend the burial of a business associate.
The exact number of people who died or were injured has ot been established, with efforts to establish the circumstances of the accident and the number of casualties ongoing.
