Senator Ledama: “This Matiang’i business is absolute nonsense!”

Narok senator Ledama Olekina has shared his views regarding former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s presidential ambition.

Expressing his objection the senator noted that  it is not the right time for leaders to start campaigning.

“This Matiangi business is absolute nonsense! It’s time to put an end to retrogressive politics and truly tackle poverty in Kenya! I’m fed up with constant campaigning. One day, you’ll wake up and realise how much you still have to learn!” Olekina said.

His tweet however generated mixed reactions from Kenyans, with some differing from the outspoken Narok senator.

His comment comes after Jubilee’s party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni announced that Jubilee’s flagbearer is former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

Speaking at a leadership meeting in Narok on Saturday Kioni expressed optimism that Matiang’i would easily beat President William Ruto in the elections.

“We as the Jubilee Party have our own candidate, Fred Matiang’i. He will face off with the others to ensure Ruto goes home. If we all agree to come together and vote, Ruto will not win even if he appoints Kimani Ichung’wah or Kamket as IEBC Chairperson. We must agree that all his supporters are the wrong people for this country,”Kioni stated.

In his address, Kioni urged Kenyans to embrace minority communities.

He moreover asked the Mount Kenya Region officials to step aside and let another community in power.

“We want a President from a small community. Let us step aside and let someone else in. Let us unite and vote as one,” he noted.

Notably, Senator Richard Onyonka also announced his endorsement for Matiang’i stating that the time was nigh for the county to produce a top candidate.
