President William Ruto flew to Uganda on Sunday morning, November 23, to attend the launch of a major development project.
He joined President Yoweri Museveni in Tororo, Eastern Uganda, for the inauguration of a new base for the Kenyan-owned Devki Group of Companies’ steel plant network.
Ruto was accompanied by members of his cabinet, including Energy and Petroleum CS Opiyo Wandayi, Tourism and Wildlife CS Rebecca Miano, as well as the Kenyan diplomatic team in Uganda, led by High Commissioner Joash Maangi.

Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame was also expected to attend but had not arrived at the time of publication.
The new factory in Tororo will be strategically positioned to take advantage of the region’s vast iron ore deposits, supporting the production of steel products.
The new development is expected to create direct jobs for Ugandans once the mills become operational.
Devki Group Chairman Narendra Raval confirmed that 90% of these positions will be reserved for residents of Tororo.
