Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga has signaled her interest in vying for the presidency in 2027 on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
Speaking on Wednesday, November 12, Ruth expressed confidence in her leadership credentials, saying she has the experience and vision needed to lead the country.
Ruth, the sister of the late ODM leader Raila Odinga, also addressed the issue of Luo leadership following his passing.

She noted that Raila had already laid down structures to ensure the community’s political and cultural continuity.
Ruth went on to dismiss claims that ODM had been left ‘orphaned‘ after Raila’s death, terming such talk a betrayal of the party’s legacy and resilience.
She took issue with recent remarks by Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi and his colleagues Jared Okello (Nyando) and Mark Nyamita (Uriri), who had urged members of the Luo community and ODM supporters to align themselves with President Ruto’s administration.
Ruth faulted the suggestion, emphasizing that the Luo community has a long tradition of resilience and leadership.
She noted that the end of Raila Odinga’s political era should not signal submission or despair but rather mark the rise of new leaders ready to carry forward his legacy.
She further called on ODM supporters to shun self-pity and instead focus on reviving and strengthening the party.
