Russia Issues Travel Advisory to Nationals in Kenya

The Russian Embassy in Kenya has issued an advisory to its citizens following airspace closures across parts of the Middle East.

In a statement released on Monday, March 2, the embassy noted that the restrictions affecting countries such as the UAE and Qatar amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran have disrupted travel plans for some Russian nationals.

The mission urged affected citizens who are unable to depart Kenya or reach transit destinations to register with consular services, report their travel challenges to the embassy, and install the “Assistant Abroad” mobile application to facilitate communication and assistance.

The embassy further advised affected travellers to contact their tour operators and airlines directly to seek guidance on rebooking options or possible refunds.

Russian nationals were encouraged to promptly inform their travel agents about difficulties in departing for Russia and to liaise with the airline or ticketing agency to clarify available alternatives, compensation terms, or revised travel arrangements.

The embassy also encouraged affected passengers to explore alternative transit routes where flights remain operational, including travelling through other major hubs that continue to facilitate connections to Russia.

Meanwhile, the United States has issued a global security advisory to its citizens amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

In a statement released on Monday, U.S. authorities urged Americans particularly those in the region to remain vigilant and closely follow security guidance issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

The advisory warned of possible travel disruptions resulting from intermittent airspace closures and emphasized the importance of exercising heightened caution while staying updated through official U.S. State Department communication channels.

U.S. citizens intending to travel abroad were advised to thoroughly check official travel advisories and security updates before leaving.
