Rigathi Gachagua Vows to Defend Uhuru Against Intimidation

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has declared that he will not allow former President Uhuru Kenyatta to be intimidated.

Speaking during a press conference on Tuesday, February 10, Gachagua accused President William Ruto’s administration of attempting to silence Uhuru following his criticism of the Kenya Kwanza government.

He claimed that the President was using junior politicians to issue threats, including the possible withdrawal of Uhuru’s retirement benefits.

Gachagua insisted that he has a duty to defend the former Head of State and protect him from political intimidation.

He went on to criticize leaders he accused of disrespecting former President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying they lack the moral authority to lecture a statesman of his stature.

The former DP maintained that Uhuru cannot be silenced through threats over retirement benefits.

Gachagua vowed that if the United Opposition wins the 2027 General Election, it will reinstate Uhuru’s retirement package should it be withdrawn by the current administration.

He further claimed the attacks on Uhuru stem from President Ruto’s fear of a united Mount Kenya voting bloc ahead of 2027, adding that Uhuru is working with regional leaders to strengthen unity in the region.
