Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has formally resigned from the UDA Party, ahead of an anticipated launch of his own political vehicle this week.
The former DP tabled his resignation letter on Monday, May 12, effectively cutting all ties with President Ruto’s party.
In his resignation letter, Gachagua detailed reasons behind his resignation.

He accused the Kenya Kwanza government of betraying Kenyans by stepping away from the party’s founding promises.
The former DP specifically referenced the Kenya Kwanza’s manifesto, which made a string of promises including unity, prosperity, justice and economic inclusion.
Gachagua went on to claim that those promises were not only broken but had been replaced.
He further highlighted sectors which he claimed had failed, including agriculture, healthcare and housing.
