Rigathi Gachagua Abruptly Concludes US Visit

DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua has cut short his tour in the United States (US) and is set to return to the country.

In a statement released on Thursday, August 14, Gachagua noted that he will join the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) in preparing for the upcoming by-elections.

“I regret being unable to visit the scheduled remaining States since I need to get back home to join our party, DCP, in preparation for the upcoming By-Elections in various parts of our country,” said Gachagua.

The DCP party leader went on to apologize to the organizers of his US tour and to Kenyans in the diaspora he had yet to meet.

Gachagua moreover noted that he will take a few days off to rest before returning to Kenya, adding that his itinerary will be made public.

The ex-DP jetted out of the country on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in the company of his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.

He arrived in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington, D.C, on July 11, and was received warmly by Kenyans living in diaspora.

During his tour in the US, Gachagua visited several states and cities, including Los Angeles, Southern California, and Kansas City.

He also visited Boston, Seattle, Washington, Texas, and Baltimore, Maryland.

Gachagua’s return to Kenya comes days after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced that by-elections will be held on November 27, 2025.
