The public viewing of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has been officially moved from the Parliament Buildings to the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
According to a statement, the relocation was prompted by the unexpectedly large crowds that turned up to escort the body of the ODM leader from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and others who had already gathered at Parliament for the planned viewing.
Authorities noted that the high turnout made it difficult to manage the crowd and ensure security at the initial venue.

In addition, the planned morning procession to the Lee Funeral Home before the public viewing has also been cancelled.
This adjustment, officials said, was made to streamline logistics and allow for smoother coordination of the ongoing state funeral activities.
Members of the public who had already begun queuing outside the Parliament Buildings have been advised to proceed to Kasarani, where the public viewing will now take place.
The procession carrying Raila’s body is expected to head to the stadium later in the morning, with heavy traffic anticipated along Thika Road as thousands make their way to the new venue.
Government officials have urged Kenyans to remain calm, cooperate with security personnel, and maintain order throughout the event as the nation continues to mourn and honour the late former Prime Minister.
