The late Raila Odinga’s aide, Dennis Onyango, has revealed that businessman Oketch Salah was a close friend of the former Prime Minister.
Onyango said that everyone who worked around Raila was familiar with Salah and that he often interacted with the former Prime Minister.
He disclosed that on Raila’s last day in Kenya before departing for India, Salah was at his Karen home and accompanied him on the trip abroad.

Onyango added that he communicated with Raila while in India using both Raila’s phone and Salah’s phone, highlighting Salah’s close involvement in the former Prime Minister’s activities.
“Everyone who worked around Raila knows Oketch Salah. I met him, traveled with him, and he was Raila’s friend. Why they were friends, I don’t know. On the final day when Raila was leaving for India, we were with Oketch Salah at Raila’s home in Karen, he brought a phone, and they left. While in India, I spoke to Raila directly on his phone and also through Salah’s phone,” Onyango noted.
Onyango further said that he was not aware of the exact nature of Raila Odinga’s friendship with Oketch Salah. He added that he was often sent to meet Salah or informed when Salah and Raila would be travelling together.
According to Onyango, while he frequently interacted with Salah on Raila’s behalf, he did not know the reasons behind Salah’s presence or his role in the former Prime Minister’s affairs.
His comments come amid ongoing controversy and public curiosity regarding Salah’s relationship with the late ODM leader.
The aide’s revelations provide a glimpse into the inner circle of Raila Odinga in his final days in Kenya.
On January 27, EALA MP Winnie Odinga condemned claims by Oketch Salah that he was present at the time of her father’s death, calling them false and raising serious concerns about his intentions.
She questioned the veracity of Salah’s statements and suggested that they were so troubling they might warrant either medical or legal scrutiny.
Winnie Odinga also indicated that the situation required immediate attention, referencing authorities who could intervene.
In response, Salah announced that he would not engage further with the controversy, citing respect for Mama Ida Odinga as his reason for remaining silent.
