Raila Odinga in Tears as Bodyguard George Oduor is Buried in Siaya

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s late longtime bodyguard, George Oduor, was buried on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at his home in Siaya.

He died on April 2, 2025, at the Nairobi West Hospital.

The former prime minister appeared to be in tears as he paid emotional tribute to Oduor during the funeral service, which was attended by prominent figures such as President William Ruto, who sat next to him.

Speaking during the funeral service held at Ramba High School in Siaya County, Odinga described Oduor as part of his family and a person who was ready to take a bullet for him.

“When you look at his report, it is very exemplary. We have one around the world. We have been with him on five of the seven continents,” Odinga said.

“When we recruited him, he went for training to South Africa and emerged top of the class. Later on, we sent him to Israel, and he was exemplary. He even trained in the United States. He knew how to sense trouble,” he added.

President William Ruto, on the other hand, eulogized Oduor as a patriot and a man of great integrity.

“I am here because George demonstrated beyond any doubt that he is a Kenyan who demonstrated competence as a security officer. Competence and integrity as a confidant and he has shown immeasurable as a Kenya patriot and trusted and trusted with the security of Raila Odinga,” he said.
