Public Outcry in Nakuru: Assembly Faces 14-Day Ultimatum Over Kihika’s Location

Nakuru County residents have filed a petition regarding the absence of their Governor Susan Kihika.

The petition, submitted on Thursday, March 21, 2025, sought to give the Nakuru County Assembly two weeks to reveal Kihika’s location.

The application which was signed by over 2,000 Nakuru residents demanded an audit of all foreign travel by Nakuru County Officials.

The residents also wanted a progress report on the investigations conducted into the disappearance of fisherman Brian Odhiambo who allegedly went missing on January 18.

Apart from the petition filed, locals accused the county chief of improper leadership claiming that the in-house wrangles between the County Secretary and the Deputy Governor hindered development.

This comes barely two months after the Governor released a statement revealing that her absence was due to her being on maternity leave.

“Following numerous calls that I have received regarding my absence, as the elected Governor of Nakuru County, I want to first of all assure the people of Nakuru that I am well and currently on maternity leave” Kihika stated.

She added that while she was away, Deputy Governor David Kones would oversee the running of the County.
