Unbeaten Paris Saint-Germain moved within reach of the Ligue 1 title by coming from behind to defeat Saint-Étienne 6-1 away on Saturday.
Saint-Étienne shocked their opponents early on, taking the lead in just the ninth minute when Lucas Stassin headed in a goal from Zuriko Davitashvili’s cross.
PSG gradually found their rhythm but struggled to threaten Gautier Larsonneur in the Saint-Étienne goal, with Lucas Beraldo and Fabian Ruiz missing the target by firing shots over the crossbar.
However, Luis Enrique’s team earned a lifeline just three minutes before halftime when Florian Tardieu fouled Gonçalo Ramos in the box. Ramos converted the resulting penalty, but PSG nearly found themselves behind again soon after, as Stassin couldn’t capitalize on a chance against Matvey Safonov.
After the break, PSG came out revitalized and took the lead in the 50th minute, punishing a loose pass from Mickael Nade when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored.
Just three minutes later, Doue added to the tally, and shortly after the hour mark, Joao Neves sealed the outcome, striking the ball past Larsonneur to make it 3-1.
PSG continued their impressive second-half performance as Doue scored again, rifling the ball into the roof of the net after a brilliant solo run that put the lead at four goals.
In the closing moments, Ibrahim Mbaye capped off the victory, scoring his first Ligue 1 goal after being unselfishly set up by Barcola inside the box.
