Property of Unknown Value Destroyed After Fire Outbreak Near Kisumu Bus Stage

Property of unknown value was destroyed on Sunday evening after a fire razed part of Mamboleo Market in Kisumu, near the city’s bus stage.

Reports indicate that the fire started at a food joint in the lakeside city and quickly spread to nearby structures, mostly made of aluminum.

However, business occupants, with assistance from local authorities, managed to contain the fire before it spread further.

Images and videos shared online showed locals fleeing the premises while calling for help from the bystanders and the county emergency department.

There were widespread fears that the fire could have destroyed a larger section of businesses in the area.

This happened even as the cause of the fire is yet to be established.

The incident comes weeks after another fire was recorded in Nairobi that left residents of Tassia Estate in Embakasi East counting losses after fire razed down several houses destroying property worth millions last night.

The incident occurred near Tassia SDA church and it forced many residents to spend the night in the cold.

According to reports, the fire left at least six people, including a child, with injuries after they were saved after being trapped inside the buildings that caught fire.
