President William Ruto Receives the UEFA Trophy at the Statehouse

President William Ruto received the UEFA Champions League trophy at State House on Friday, marking a significant moment in the country’s football history by bringing the prestigious European club competition closer to fans in the region.

The trophy’s return was made possible through the Heineken UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour, evoking nostalgic feelings and pride, particularly for those who remembered its last visit when it was presented to the late President Mwai Kibaki in 2012.

Accompanying the trophy was German football legend Bastian Schweinsteiger, a 2013 Champions League winner with Bayern Munich.

During the event, President Ruto expressed his passionate support for Arsenal Football Club ahead of their crucial semi-final match against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He conveyed optimism that they could secure a spot in the finals.

“As I have mentioned, I am a supporter of Arsenal, and I hope they can overturn the one-nil loss to PSG this week when they meet in Paris next Wednesday and advance to the finals to potentially lift this trophy,” Ruto stated.
