Former Nairobi Governor, Evans Kidero has been appointed as the chairman of Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC) by the Head of State.
The appointment was formalized in a gazette notice dated Friday, November 15 where it took effect immediately after Hussein Tene Debasso’s appointment was revoked.
The appointment will last for a period of three years.

The appointment came after the court had declined his appointment as the Chief Administrative service (CAS).
In exercise of the power conferred by section 6(1) a of the state corporations Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the interpretation and General provisions Act, I William Samoei Ruto, President of the republic of Kenya and Commander-in-chief of the Defense Forces, appoint Evans Odhiambo Kidero (Dr.) to be the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya National Trading Corporation, for a period of (3) years, with effect from 15th November, 2024. The appointment of Hussein Tene Debasso is revoked.
Stated the Gazette Notice.
The KNTC plays the role of stabilizing consumer prices and managing the government’s procurement processes.
KNTC ensures efficient distribution of goods.
His appointment came with other appointments as the Head of the Republic also named Dr. Thuo Mathenge as the chairperson of the Kenya Agriculture and Livestock Research Organization as Dr. Wenwa Akinyi Oranga was also appointed as the leader of Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute.
