The police have intercepted a Kenya-bound bus from Tanzania loaded with cannabis valued at approximately Ksh.2.5 million.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the bus, operating under Kidia One Express, was flagged down for a routine check by a team comprising the Anti-Narcotic Unit (ANU), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), and the Police Dog Unit.
Following the operation, the detectives recovered four tightly wrapped bundles containing 84 packets of cannabis, weighing 84 kilograms.
“This interception highlights the Government’s commitment to combating narcotics trafficking through strong enforcement, intelligence-led operations, and multi-agency collaboration to disrupt drug networks, prosecute traffickers, and protect communities from the harmful effects of illicit drugs,” the DCI stated.
