Police Seize 2,000 Litres of Illicit Brew, Crude Weapons in Trans Nzoia Operation

A multi-agency security operation in Kiminini Sub-County, Trans-Nzoia County, has resulted in the arrest of 19 suspects and the seizure of thousands of litres of illicit alcohol.

This followed a crackdown on illegal brewing, drug trafficking and criminal gangs.

According to a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), the operation was conducted on July 24, 2026, in Waigama, Langas, Mabonde and Maliki villages within Waitaluk Location.

During the operation, the police recovered several crude weapons and destroyed approximately 2,000 litres of illicit brew during the operation.

The suspects were taken into police custody and are expected to be processed before being arraigned in court.

The recovered weapons and illicit alcohol have been retained as exhibits to support ongoing investigations.

“The 19 individuals were taken to the police station and placed in custody, where they await processing and arraignment in court. The illicit brews and crude weapons recovered have been securely kept as exhibits at the same station”, part of the statement read.

The police said the operation forms part of a wider effort to curb criminal activities linked to illegal alcohol and narcotics across the country.

“This operation is part of an ongoing, continuous campaign to eliminate illegal substances and dismantle criminal networks across the country,” the statement added.
