Police operating under Operation Maliza Uhalifu have successfully recovered 24 stolen livestock following a response to a banditry incident.
In a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), this comes after a report of livestock stolen from the Ntangilia area in Tigania East, Meru County, was received, prompting the immediate deployment of a joint security team.
The team established strategic ambushes along known criminal escape routes.
“A report of livestock stolen from the Ntangilia area was received, prompting the immediate deployment of a joint security team. The team established strategic ambushes along known criminal escape routes”, NPS stated.
The suspects were intercepted in the Chumvi area, where a fierce exchange of fire ensued, but the security team overpowered the bandits and recovered all the livestock, which were handed over to the owner at Gambela Centre after identification.
“This successful operation once again demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated multi-agency security efforts under Operation Maliza Uhalifu. The operation continues to strengthen rapid response capabilities, enhance security presence, and disrupt criminal activities in the region,” the service added.
NPS further urged member of the public to continue sharing information on any criminal activities through the nearest police station.
