A 19-year-old Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student died after being allegedly pushed out of a moving matatu along the Thika Superhighway following a fare dispute.
The student, identified as Eugine Mutuku, was travelling from Thika towards Nairobi CBD on Friday, June 5, when the incident is said to have occurred near Garden City.
Reports indicate that the altercation involved a Ksh 20 disagreement between the passenger and the crew.

Mutuku had recently travelled to Nairobi to begin his attachment at a health facility along Thika Road. On the day of the incident, he had visited his elder brother before leaving for his destination.
Shortly after, he was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital after sustaining severe injuries.
He reportedly suffered cuts on the lips, a fractured leg, and internal injuries, with intense pain before his death.
He later succumbed to the injuries while receiving treatment.
Before passing on, he reportedly maintained that he was forcefully ejected from the moving vehicle.
Police have launched investigations into the incident and are pursuing the driver and conductor suspected to have been involved.
The matatu is said to have continued its journey after the incident before being abandoned in the Kariokor area of Nairobi, after which the crew fled.
Authorities confirm that no arrests have been made so far, but investigations are ongoing, with the vehicle currently detained at Kasarani Police Station as evidence.
The case has raised renewed concern over passenger safety and conduct within Nairobi’s public transport system.
