The National Police Service has confirmed the arrest of a suspect and recovery of a firearm following a security operation in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.
In a statement, police noted that the early morning operation was carried out at around 4:30 a.m. in Muthaiga Estate after a series of burglary incidents were reported in the area.
Acting on intelligence, officers had positioned themselves strategically to intercept suspected criminals.

During the patrol, officers identified a vehicle parked suspiciously within nearby vegetation. When police approached, the driver attempted to flee and ignored orders to stop, prompting a pursuit.
Authorities said the occupants resisted arrest, and one of them discharged a firearm in the direction of officers.
Police responded to the threat by returning fire, forcing the vehicle off the road into a bushy area. The suspects then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into nearby residential compounds.
A female suspect was apprehended while attempting to escape after entering a nearby compound.
She was detained with the assistance of a security guard and has since been taken into custody, where she is assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries.
Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched for other suspects who escaped from the scene.
Police say operations are ongoing in the surrounding areas as officers pursue leads to track down those involved and bring them to justice.
