The founder of Jesus Winner Ministry pastor Edward Mwai has disclosed that he has received abusive phone calls from Kenyans since President William Ruto pledged a Ksh.120 million donation to his church.
On Sunday, President Ruto promised to give a personal donation of Ksh 20 million and later give Ksh 100 million through a harambee, sending the faithful into cheers.
The donation sparked outrage from dissatisfied Kenyans, who questioned why he would allow the President to make a lump sum donation amidst calls for austerity, even threatening to protest at the church.

Pastor Mwai now reveals that he and his wife have been receiving threatening messages, which have even forced him to buy new mobile lines.
“I have received more than 5,000 abusive messages and cannot make calls,” he told Daily Nation.
The pastor has moreover argued that Ruto’s donation was only a pledge and has not yet received a coin from him.
“For the record, President Ruto never left any money behind. I consider what he promised like any other pledge when you are left chasing after it to be fulfilled. The service was live and I challenge you to review the footage and show me where my team or board member is receiving the donation.”
