Pastor Kanyari’s Daughter Sky Breaks Silence on Custody Dispute

Sky Victor, the daughter of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo and Pastor Victor Kanyari, has publicly expressed her distress following a reported court ruling in the ongoing dispute over her and her younger brother Danny’s custody.

Taking to her socials, Sky indicated that she preferred to remain with her stepfather, Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash, rather than move to her biological father’s home.

Sky explained that she had grown up with Tash and considered his home familiar, having spent a significant part of her life there with her late mother and younger brother.

She also expressed concern about how the custody dispute had affected the two children, saying they had spent much of the day crying as they struggled to come to terms with the situation.

Sky further revealed that Danny had experienced difficulties sleeping amid the uncertainty surrounding their future living arrangements.

The teenager appealed for their wishes to be considered, questioning why they should leave the home they had known for an environment they were less familiar with.

Sky also defended her late mother against claims circulating on social media about Betty’s past relationship with Kanyari.

She disputed suggestions that her mother’s decisions were driven by financial interests, recalling the challenges they experienced after Betty left the preacher.

According to Sky, the family went through a difficult period financially and lived in a small house without furniture before their circumstances improved.

She credited Tash with supporting the family and helping them establish a more stable home.

Her remarks highlighted the emotional attachment she has developed to her stepfather and the household in which she and Danny have spent much of their lives.

The custody dispute followed the death of Betty Bayo in November 2025, which left her two children at the centre of discussions about their care and living arrangements.

Kanyari, who separated from Betty years before her death, later became involved in a public dispute over access to and custody of the children.

In June 2026, the preacher publicly stated that he had regained custody of Sky and Danny after previously raising concerns about access to them.

The matter has since attracted considerable public attention, with Kenyans debating the children’s welfare, their relationship with both father figures and the importance of considering their wishes.

Sky’s latest remarks have renewed the discussion, particularly over the emotional impact of custody disputes on children who have experienced the loss of a parent.

However, the precise terms of the latest reported court ruling and the children’s current legal custody arrangements require confirmation from the actual court order or an authoritative statement from the parties involved.
