Ousmane Dembélé scored a second hat-trick in a span of four days as PSG widened the gap at the top of Ligue 1 to 13 points.
After scoring a hattrick against Stuttgart in the Champions League in midweek, the Frenchman followed it up by scoring PSG’s first three goals in their 5-2 victory over Brest in Ligue 1.
PSG started strong, dominating possession. Bradley Barcola nearly opened the scoring in the 19th minute, but his shot hit the post. The breakthrough came in the 30th minute when Dembélé tapped in a perfect assist from Barcola (0-1).
Brest made a comeback, and early in the second half, Romain Del Castillo took advantage of a loose ball in the box to equalize the score at 1-1.
But Dembélé wasn’t done. He struck again in the 57th minute, pouncing on a rebound to restore PSG’s lead (1-2).
Just five minutes later, he completed his hat trick with a sharp finish from a Kang-In Lee cross (1-3).
Ludovic Ajorque pulled one back for Brest (2-3), and they nearly levelled the game with a couple of dangerous chances from Romain Faivre, but Gianluigi Donnarumma came up big with key saves.
With Brest pushing forward in search of an equalizer, PSG exploited the space. Gonçalo Ramos, who replaced Dembélé, bagged a late brace in the 89th and 97th minutes, securing a 5-2 win and extending PSG’s lead at the top to 13 points over Marseille.
This means Dembele has now found the back of the net 11 times in his last six games across all competitions.
