Siaya Governor James Orengo made his first public appearance on August 8, after weeks of speculation over his health and whereabouts.
The county boss resurfaced during the burial ceremony of veteran politician Phoebe Asiyo in Karachuonyo, Homa Bay County.
His appearance quashed widespread rumours that had fueled public debate, particularly on social media, over his prolonged absence.

Although he arrived late into the ceremony, Orengo appeared healthy, energetic, and in high spirits.
The governor even delivered a speech during the event, although he did not address rumors regarding his health or whereabouts over the past weeks.
The appearance comes days after Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol opened up on his differences with Orengo, acknowledging ongoing tensions between them.
In a statement on August 5, Oduol reaffirmed his loyalty to Orengo and noted that he remains fully committed to his role as the deputy governor.
Oduol moreover admitted that internal differences have emerged between him and Orengo, but stressed that they should not be mistaken for a challenge to the authority of the governor’s office.
