Siaya Governor James Orengo has vowed to continue with his political activities despite an attack that disrupted his rally in Migori County.
Orengo said on Saturday evening, August 29, that his vehicle was sprayed with live bullets before being set on fire in Awendo.
The governor described the incident as an attempt on his life, maintaining that the attack would not deter him from engaging with residents or pursuing his political activities.

He said the incident demonstrated attempts by his opponents to intimidate him, but maintained that such actions would not stop the movement he represents.
Orengo’s rally in Migori was disrupted after a tear gas canister was discharged while he was addressing residents.
His security detail immediately moved him away from the scene as supporters fled to safety following the disruption.
The incident comes amid heightened political activity in the region, with political leaders increasingly holding rallies and public engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Orengo has maintained a firm political presence in the Nyanza region, where he continues to mobilise support and engage residents on political and governance issues.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting and burning of his vehicle were not immediately clear, and investigations are expected to establish what happened and identify those responsible.
