Orengo Accuses Armed Goons of Brutal Attack on His Supporter

Siaya Governor James Orengo has claimed that one of his supporters, Kevin Dooso, was brutally attacked by armed men at his home on Tuesday night.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 15, Orengo alleged that the attackers were accompanied by individuals believed to be police officers.

According to the governor, the assailants forced their way into Dooso’s home, stole his mobile phones and laptop, and attacked him with a panga, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.

Orengo claimed the attack was linked to Dooso’s political stance and support for his cause, describing it as an attempt to intimidate those who speak out.

The governor said Dooso was rushed to hospital, where he is receiving treatment for the severe injuries sustained during the attack.

He noted that the incident had left the victim’s family and friends shaken as doctors work to stabilise his condition.

Orengo further urged the relevant security agencies to launch swift investigations into the incident and ensure those responsible are identified and brought to justice.

He maintained that acts of violence against citizens should not be tolerated regardless of political affiliation.

The Siaya county boss condemned the incident, saying it reflected growing insecurity and lawlessness in the country.

He warned that attacks targeting individuals for expressing their views posed a threat to democracy and the country’s future.

He also appealed to Kenyans to keep Dooso in their prayers as he undergoes treatment in hospital, expressing hope for his recovery and insisting that such acts of violence would not silence those advocating for change.

The allegations come amid heightened political tensions in the country, with opposition leaders repeatedly accusing security agencies of targeting government critics.

Authorities are yet to respond publicly to Orengo’s claims or provide details on any investigations into the alleged attack.
