Leaders from the United Opposition have called for the resignation of Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi and Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui over their alleged involvement in a fuel scandal.
Speaking during a joint press briefing on Wednesday, April 15, DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua accused the two Cabinet Secretaries of being implicated in the controversy surrounding the matter.
He alleged that Wandayi bore direct responsibility for the alleged irregularities, while also claiming that Kinyanjui was complicit in the scandal.

The opposition leaders maintained that both Cabinet Secretaries should step aside to allow for further investigations into the allegations.
The Leaders included the resignation demands among seven key proposals submitted to President William Ruto and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, warning of mass protests if their conditions are not met within seven days.
They called on the President to direct the Speaker of the National Assembly to convene a special parliamentary sitting to deliberate on the issues raised, cautioning that failure to do so would trigger nationwide action.
The leaders further urged Speaker Wetangula to summon Parliament to consider cancelling the government-to-government (G-to-G) fuel deal, which they claim is at the centre of the controversy.
The Opposition also levelled accusations against President Ruto over alleged links to companies benefiting from the arrangement and claimed that the structure of the deal has contributed to public financial losses, while calling for the suspension of several levies and taxes on fuel and related services.
