Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ends Galatasaray’s 28-match Unbeaten Streak with a 2-1 Victory

In an exciting match at Tupras Stadium on Saturday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Besiktas secured a 2-1 victory over league leaders Galatasaray, ending the visitors’ impressive 28-match unbeaten streak in the Turkish Super Lig.

Besiktas took an early lead in the 23rd minute when Rafa Silva skillfully navigated through the defenders and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.

Galatasaray’s challenges increased in the 38th minute when full-back Frankowski received a red card after a VAR review, leaving the visitors with only 10 players on the field.

Despite being a man down, Galatasaray displayed resilience, and Lucas Torreira equalized just before halftime with a stunning long-range strike in the 45th minute.

The second half saw intense action from both sides, but it was Besiktas’ Gedson Fernandes who ultimately made the difference. In the 66th minute, Fernandes took advantage of a defensive error by Galatasaray to restore the home team’s lead.

Tensions rose late in the match during the 69th minute, resulting in yellow cards for Galatasaray’s Baris Alper Yilmaz and Besiktas’ Arthur Masuaku. Additionally, Besiktas’ Semih Kilicsoy was shown a red card during stoppage time.

This victory brought Besiktas’ point total to 47, ending a two-match winless streak. Meanwhile, Galatasaray suffered its first defeat of the season, remaining at the top of the league standings with 71 points.

The result marked Besiktas’ first win in three matches, while Galatasaray’s unbeaten streak came to an end after 28 weeks.
