Rapper Henry Ohanga, popularly known as Octopizzo, has responded after facing online criticism over his recent meeting with President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto.
According to reports, the criticism erupted after George shared photos on social media on Sunday, July 26, 2026, showing the pair together in Kisumu before later visiting Octopizzo’s rural home in Ugunja, Siaya County.
George shared a series of photos from the visit on Instagram, captioning them, “Postcards from Ugunja courtesy of Ohanga Jr.”

The images quickly sparked debate online, with some Kenyans labelling the rapper a “sellout” because of his previous criticism of the Ruto administration, support for the Gen Z-led protests and association with the Linda Mwananchi movement.
However, breaking his silence through a post on his social media account Octopizzo maintained that people should not interpret every personal interaction through a political lens.
According to the rapper, friendship, politics and music each serve different purposes and should not be conflated.
“You must learn to distinguish between politics, friendship, and music as a profession. Each serves a different purpose, and when we respect those boundaries, we become better individuals and build healthier relationships. Usiwai nitetea nani,” he wrote
